Surah Al Buruj

بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِيْمِ

1. وَالسَّمَاۤءِ ذَاتِ الْبُرُوْجِۙ

   Was-samā'i żātil-burūj(i).

   By the sky full of constellations,

2. وَالْيَوْمِ الْمَوْعُوْدِۙ

   Wal-yaumil-mau‘ūd(i).

   and the promised Day ˹of Judgment˺,

3. وَشَاهِدٍ وَّمَشْهُوْدٍۗ

   Wa syāhidiw wa masyhūd(in).

   and the witness and what is witnessed!

4. قُتِلَ اَصْحٰبُ الْاُخْدُوْدِۙ

   Qutila aṣḥābul-ukhdūd(i).

   Condemned are the makers of the ditch—

5. النَّارِ ذَاتِ الْوَقُوْدِۙ

   An-nāri żātil-waqūd(i).

   the fire ˹pit˺, filled with fuel—

6. اِذْ هُمْ عَلَيْهَا قُعُوْدٌۙ

   Iż hum ‘alaihā qu‘ūd(un).

   when they sat around it,

7. وَّهُمْ عَلٰى مَا يَفْعَلُوْنَ بِالْمُؤْمِنِيْنَ شُهُوْدٌ ۗ

   Wa hum ‘alā mā yaf‘alūna bil-mu'minīna syuhūd(un).

   watching what they had ˹ordered to be˺ done to the believers,

8. وَمَا نَقَمُوْا مِنْهُمْ اِلَّآ اَنْ يُّؤْمِنُوْا بِاللّٰهِ الْعَزِيْزِ الْحَمِيْدِۙ

   Wa mā naqamū minhum illā ay yu'minū billāhil-‘azīzil-ḥamīd(i).

   who they resented for no reason other than belief in Allah—the Almighty, the Praiseworthy—

9. الَّذِيْ لَهٗ مُلْكُ السَّمٰوٰتِ وَالْاَرْضِ ۗوَاللّٰهُ عَلٰى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ شَهِيْدٌ ۗ

   Allażī lahū mulkus-samāwāti wal-arḍ(i), wallāhu ‘alā kulli syai'in syahīd(un).

   ˹the One˺ to Whom belongs the kingdom of the heavens and earth. And Allah is a Witness over all things.

10. اِنَّ الَّذِيْنَ فَتَنُوا الْمُؤْمِنِيْنَ وَالْمُؤْمِنٰتِ ثُمَّ لَمْ يَتُوْبُوْا فَلَهُمْ عَذَابُ جَهَنَّمَ وَلَهُمْ عَذَابُ الْحَرِيْقِۗ

    Innal-lażīna fatanul-mu'minīna wal-mu'mināti ṡumma lam yatūbū fa lahum ‘ażābu jahannama wa lahum ‘ażābul-ḥarīq(i).

    Those who persecute the believing men and women and then do not repent will certainly suffer the punishment of Hell and the torment of burning.

11. اِنَّ الَّذِيْنَ اٰمَنُوْا وَعَمِلُوا الصّٰلِحٰتِ لَهُمْ جَنّٰتٌ تَجْرِيْ مِنْ تَحْتِهَا الْاَنْهٰرُ ەۗ ذٰلِكَ الْفَوْزُ الْكَبِيْرُۗ

    Innal-lażīna āmanū wa ‘amiluṣ-ṣāliḥāti lahum jannātun tajrī min taḥtihal-anhār(u), żālikal-fauzul-kabīr(u).

    Surely those who believe and do good will have Gardens under which rivers flow. That is the greatest triumph.

12. اِنَّ بَطْشَ رَبِّكَ لَشَدِيْدٌ ۗ

    Inna baṭsya rabbika lasyadīd(un).

    Indeed, the ˹crushing˺ grip of your Lord is severe.

13. اِنَّهٗ هُوَ يُبْدِئُ وَيُعِيْدُۚ

    Innahū huwa yubdi'u wa yu‘īd(u).

    ˹For˺ He is certainly the One Who originates and resurrects ˹all˺.

14. وَهُوَ الْغَفُوْرُ الْوَدُوْدُۙ

    Wa huwal-gafūrul-wadūd(u).

    And He is the All-Forgiving, All-Loving—

15. ذُو الْعَرْشِ الْمَجِيْدُۙ

    Żul-‘arsyil-majīd(i).

    Lord of the Throne, the All-Glorious,

16. فَعَّالٌ لِّمَا يُرِيْدُۗ

    Fa‘‘ālul limā yurīd(u).

    Doer of whatever He wills.

17. هَلْ اَتٰىكَ حَدِيْثُ الْجُنُوْدِۙ

    Hal atāka ḥadīṡul-junūd(i).

    Has the story of the ˹destroyed˺ forces reached you ˹O Prophet˺—

18. فِرْعَوْنَ وَثَمُوْدَۗ

    Fir‘auna wa ṡamūd(a).

    ˹the forces of˺ Pharaoh and Thamûd?

19. بَلِ الَّذِيْنَ كَفَرُوْا فِيْ تَكْذِيْبٍۙ

    Balil-lażīna kafarū fī takżīb(in).

    Yet the disbelievers ˹still˺ persist in denial.

20. وَّاللّٰهُ مِنْ وَّرَاۤىِٕهِمْ مُّحِيْطٌۚ

    Wallāhu miw warā'ihim muḥīṭ(un).

    But Allah encompasses them from all sides.

21. بَلْ هُوَ قُرْاٰنٌ مَّجِيْدٌۙ

    Bal huwa qur'ānum majīd(un).

    In fact, this is a glorious Quran,

22. فِيْ لَوْحٍ مَّحْفُوْظٍ ࣖ

    Fī lauḥim maḥfūẓ(in).

    ˹recorded˺ in a Preserved Tablet.
