Surah Ar Rahman

بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِيْمِ

  1. اَلرَّحْمٰنُۙ

    Ar-raḥmān(u).

    The Most Compassionate

  2. عَلَّمَ الْقُرْاٰنَۗ

    ‘Allamal-qur'ān(a).

    taught the Quran,

  3. خَلَقَ الْاِنْسَانَۙ

    Khalaqal-insān(a).

    created humanity,

  4. عَلَّمَهُ الْبَيَانَ

    ‘Allamahul-bayān(a).

    ˹and˺ taught them speech.

  5. اَلشَّمْسُ وَالْقَمَرُ بِحُسْبَانٍۙ

    Asy-syamsu wal-qamaru biḥusbān(in).

    The sun and the moon ˹travel˺ with precision.

  6. وَّالنَّجْمُ وَالشَّجَرُ يَسْجُدَانِ

    Wan-najmu wasy-syajaru yasjudān(i).

    The stars and the trees bow down ˹in submission˺.

  7. وَالسَّمَاۤءَ رَفَعَهَا وَوَضَعَ الْمِيْزَانَۙ

    Was-samā'a rafa‘ahā wa waḍa‘al-mīzān(a).

    As for the sky, He raised it ˹high˺, and set the balance ˹of justice˺

  8. اَلَّا تَطْغَوْا فِى الْمِيْزَانِ

    Allā taṭgau fil-mīzān(i).

    so that you do not defraud the scales.

  9. وَاَقِيْمُوا الْوَزْنَ بِالْقِسْطِ وَلَا تُخْسِرُوا الْمِيْزَانَ

    Wa aqīmul-wazna bil-qisṭi wa lā tukhsirul-mīzān(a).

    Weigh with justice, and do not give short measure.

  10. وَالْاَرْضَ وَضَعَهَا لِلْاَنَامِۙ

    Wal-arḍa waḍa‘ahā lil-anām(i).

    He laid out the earth for all beings.

  11. فِيْهَا فَاكِهَةٌ وَّالنَّخْلُ ذَاتُ الْاَكْمَامِۖ

    Fīhā fākihatuw wan-nakhlu żātul-akmām(i).

    In it are fruit, palm trees with date stalks,

  12. وَالْحَبُّ ذُو الْعَصْفِ وَالرَّيْحَانُۚ

    Wal-ḥabbu żul-‘aṣfi war-raiḥān(u).

    and grain with husks, and aromatic plants.

  13. فَبِاَيِّ اٰلَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبٰنِ

    Fa bi'ayyi ālā'i rabbikumā tukażżibān(i).

    Then which of your Lord’s favours will you ˹humans and jinn˺ both deny?

  14. خَلَقَ الْاِنْسَانَ مِنْ صَلْصَالٍ كَالْفَخَّارِ

    Khalaqal-insāna min ṣalṣālin kal-fakhkhār(i).

    He created humankind from ˹sounding˺ clay like pottery,

  15. وَخَلَقَ الْجَاۤنَّ مِنْ مَّارِجٍ مِّنْ نَّارٍۚ

    Wa khalaqal-jānna mim mārijim min nār(in).

    and created jinn from a ˹smokeless˺ flame of fire.

  16. فَبِاَيِّ اٰلَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبٰنِ

    Fa bi'ayyi ālā'i rabbikumā tukażżibān(i).

    Then which of your Lord’s favours will you both deny?

  17. رَبُّ الْمَشْرِقَيْنِ وَرَبُّ الْمَغْرِبَيْنِۚ

    Rabbul-masyriqaini wa rabbul-magribain(i).

    ˹He is˺ Lord of the two easts and the two wests.

  18. فَبِاَيِّ اٰلَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبٰنِ

    Fa bi'ayyi ālā'i rabbikumā tukażżibān(i).

    Then which of your Lord’s favours will you both deny?

  19. مَرَجَ الْبَحْرَيْنِ يَلْتَقِيٰنِۙ

    Marajal-baḥraini yaltaqiyān(i).

    He merges the two bodies of ˹fresh and salt˺ water,

  20. بَيْنَهُمَا بَرْزَخٌ لَّا يَبْغِيٰنِۚ

    Bainahumā barzakhul lā yabgiyān(i).

    yet between them is a barrier they never cross.

  21. فَبِاَيِّ اٰلَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبٰنِ

    Fa bi'ayyi ālā'i rabbikumā tukażżibān(i).

    Then which of your Lord’s favours will you both deny?

  22. يَخْرُجُ مِنْهُمَا اللُّؤْلُؤُ وَالْمَرْجَانُۚ

    Yakhruju minhumal-lu'lu'u wal-marjān(u).

    Out of both ˹waters˺ come forth pearls and coral.

  23. فَبِاَيِّ اٰلَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبٰنِ

    Fa bi'ayyi ālā'i rabbikumā tukażżibān(i).

    Then which of your Lord’s favours will you both deny?

  24. وَلَهُ الْجَوَارِ الْمُنْشَاٰتُ فِى الْبَحْرِ كَالْاَعْلَامِۚ

    Wa lahul-jawāril-munsya'ātu fil-baḥri kal-a‘lām(i).

    To Him belong the ships with raised sails, sailing through the seas like mountains.

  25. فَبِاَيِّ اٰلَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبٰنِ ࣖ

    Fa bi'ayyi ālā'i rabbikumā tukażżibān(i).

    Then which of your Lord’s favours will you both deny?

  26. كُلُّ مَنْ عَلَيْهَا فَانٍۖ

    Kullu man ‘alaihā fān(in).

    Every being on earth is bound to perish.

  27. وَّيَبْقٰى وَجْهُ رَبِّكَ ذُو الْجَلٰلِ وَالْاِكْرَامِۚ

    Wa yabqā wajhu rabbika żul-jalāli wal-ikrām(i).

    Only your Lord Himself, full of Majesty and Honour, will remain ˹forever˺.

  28. فَبِاَيِّ اٰلَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبٰنِ

    Fa bi'ayyi ālā'i rabbikumā tukażżibān(i).

    Then which of your Lord’s favours will you both deny?

  29. يَسْـَٔلُهٗ مَنْ فِى السَّمٰوٰتِ وَالْاَرْضِۗ كُلَّ يَوْمٍ هُوَ فِيْ شَأْنٍۚ

    Yas'aluhū man fis-samāwāti wal-arḍ(i), kulla yaumin huwa fī sya'n(in).

    All those in the heavens and the earth are dependent on Him. Day in and day out He has something to bring about.

  30. فَبِاَيِّ اٰلَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبٰنِ

    Fa bi'ayyi ālā'i rabbikumā tukażżibān(i).

    Then which of your Lord’s favours will you both deny?

  31. سَنَفْرُغُ لَكُمْ اَيُّهَ الثَّقَلٰنِۚ

    Sanafrugu lakum ayyuhaṡ-ṡaqalān(i).

    We will soon attend to you ˹for judgment˺, O two multitudes ˹of jinn and humans˺!

  32. فَبِاَيِّ اٰلَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبٰنِ

    Fa bi'ayyi ālā'i rabbikumā tukażżibān(i).

    Then which of your Lord’s favours will you both deny?

  33. يٰمَعْشَرَ الْجِنِّ وَالْاِنْسِ اِنِ اسْتَطَعْتُمْ اَنْ تَنْفُذُوْا مِنْ اَقْطَارِ السَّمٰوٰتِ وَالْاَرْضِ فَانْفُذُوْاۗ لَا تَنْفُذُوْنَ اِلَّا بِسُلْطٰنٍۚ

    Yā ma‘syaral-jinni wal-insi inistaṭa‘tum an tanfużū min aqṭāris-samāwāti wal-arḍi fanfużū, lā tanfużūna illā bisulṭān(in).

    O assembly of jinn and humans! If you can penetrate beyond the realms of the heavens and the earth, then do so. ˹But˺ you cannot do that without ˹Our˺ authority.

  34. فَبِاَيِّ اٰلَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبٰنِ

    Fa bi'ayyi ālā'i rabbikumā tukażżibān(i).

    Then which of your Lord’s favours will you both deny?

  35. يُرْسَلُ عَلَيْكُمَا شُوَاظٌ مِّنْ نَّارٍۙ وَّنُحَاسٌ فَلَا تَنْتَصِرَانِۚ

    Yursalu ‘alaikumā syuwāẓum min nār(in), wa nuḥāsun falā tantaṣirān(i).

    Flames of fire and ˹molten˺ copper will be sent against you, and you will not be able to defend one another.

  36. فَبِاَيِّ اٰلَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبٰنِ

    Fa bi'ayyi ālā'i rabbikumā tukażżibān(i).

    Then which of your Lord’s favours will you both deny?

  37. فَاِذَا انْشَقَّتِ السَّمَاۤءُ فَكَانَتْ وَرْدَةً كَالدِّهَانِۚ

    Fa iżansyaqqatis-samā'u fa kānat wardatan kad-dihān(i).

    ˹How horrible will it be˺ when the heavens will split apart, becoming rose-red like ˹burnt˺ oil!

  38. فَبِاَيِّ اٰلَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبٰنِ

    Fa bi'ayyi ālā'i rabbikumā tukażżibān(i).

    Then which of your Lord’s favours will you both deny?

  39. فَيَوْمَئِذٍ لَّا يُسْـَٔلُ عَنْ ذَنْۢبِهٖٓ اِنْسٌ وَّلَا جَاۤنٌّۚ

    Fa yauma'iżil lā yus'alu ‘an żambihī insuw wa lā jānn(un).

    On that Day there will be no need for any human or jinn to be asked about their sins.

  40. فَبِاَيِّ اٰلَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبٰنِ

    Fa bi'ayyi ālā'i rabbikumā tukażżibān(i).

    Then which of your Lord’s favours will you both deny?

  41. يُعْرَفُ الْمُجْرِمُوْنَ بِسِيْمٰهُمْ فَيُؤْخَذُ بِالنَّوَاصِيْ وَالْاَقْدَامِۚ

    Yu‘raful-mujrimūna bisīmāhum fa yu'khażu bin-nawāṣī wal-iqdām(i).

    The wicked will be recognized by their appearance, then will be seized by ˹their˺ forelocks and feet.

  42. فَبِاَيِّ اٰلَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبٰنِ

    Fa bi'ayyi ālā'i rabbikumā tukażżibān(i).

    Then which of your Lord’s favours will you both deny?

  43. هٰذِهٖ جَهَنَّمُ الَّتِيْ يُكَذِّبُ بِهَا الْمُجْرِمُوْنَۘ

    Hāżihī jahannamul-latī yukażżibu bihal-mujrimūn(a).

    ˹They will be told,˺ “This is the Hell which the wicked denied.”

  44. يَطُوْفُوْنَ بَيْنَهَا وَبَيْنَ حَمِيْمٍ اٰنٍۚ

    Yaṭūfūna bainahā wa baina ḥamīmin ān(in).

    They will alternate between its flames and scalding water.

  45. فَبِاَيِّ اٰلَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبٰنِ ࣖ

    Fa bi'ayyi ālā'i rabbikumā tukażżibān(i).

    Then which of your Lord’s favours will you both deny?

  46. وَلِمَنْ خَافَ مَقَامَ رَبِّهٖ جَنَّتٰنِۚ

    Wa liman khāfa maqāma rabbihī jannatān(i).

    And whoever is in awe of standing before their Lord will have two Gardens.

  47. فَبِاَيِّ اٰلَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبٰنِۙ

    Fa bi'ayyi ālā'i rabbikumā tukażżibān(i).

    Then which of your Lord’s favours will you both deny?

  48. ذَوَاتَآ اَفْنَانٍۚ

    Żawātā afnān(in).

    ˹Both will be˺ with lush branches.

  49. فَبِاَيِّ اٰلَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبٰنِ

    Fabi'ayyi ālā'i rabbikumā tukażżibān(i).

    Then which of your Lord’s favours will you both deny?

  50. فِيْهِمَا عَيْنٰنِ تَجْرِيٰنِۚ

    Fīhimā ‘aināni tajriyān(i).

    In each ˹Garden˺ will be two flowing springs.

  51. فَبِاَيِّ اٰلَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبٰنِ

    Fa bi'ayyi ālā'i rabbikumā tukażżibān(i).

    Then which of your Lord’s favours will you both deny?

  52. فِيْهِمَا مِنْ كُلِّ فَاكِهَةٍ زَوْجٰنِۚ

    Fīhimā min kulli fākihatin zaujān(i).

    In each will be two types of every fruit.

  53. فَبِاَيِّ اٰلَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبٰنِۚ

    Fa bi'ayyi ālā'i rabbikumā tukażżibān(i).

    Then which of your Lord’s favours will you both deny?

  54. مُتَّكِـِٕيْنَ عَلٰى فُرُشٍۢ بَطَاۤىِٕنُهَا مِنْ اِسْتَبْرَقٍۗ وَجَنَا الْجَنَّتَيْنِ دَانٍۚ

    Muttaki'īna ‘alā furusyim baṭā'inuhā min istabraq(in), wa janal-jannataini dān(in).

    Those ˹believers˺ will recline on furnishings lined with rich brocade. And the fruit of both Gardens will hang within reach.

  55. فَبِاَيِّ اٰلَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبٰنِ

    Fa bi'ayyi ālā'i rabbikumā tukażżibān(i).

    Then which of your Lord’s favours will you both deny?

  56. فِيْهِنَّ قٰصِرٰتُ الطَّرْفِۙ لَمْ يَطْمِثْهُنَّ اِنْسٌ قَبْلَهُمْ وَلَا جَاۤنٌّۚ

    Fīhinna qāṣirātuṭ-ṭarf(i), lam yaṭmiṡhunna insun qablahum wa lā jānn(un).

    In both ˹Gardens˺ will be maidens of modest gaze, who no human or jinn has ever touched before.

  57. فَبِاَيِّ اٰلَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبٰنِۚ

    Fa bi'ayyi ālā'i rabbikumā tukażżibān(i).

    Then which of your Lord’s favours will you both deny?

  58. كَاَنَّهُنَّ الْيَاقُوْتُ وَالْمَرْجَانُۚ

    Ka'annahunnal-yāqūtu wal-marjān(u).

    Those ˹maidens˺ will be ˹as elegant˺ as rubies and coral.

  59. فَبِاَيِّ اٰلَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبٰنِ

    Fa bi'ayyi ālā'i rabbikumā tukażżibān(i).

    Then which of your Lord’s favours will you both deny?

  60. هَلْ جَزَاۤءُ الْاِحْسَانِ اِلَّا الْاِحْسَانُۚ

    Hal jazā'ul-iḥsāni illal-iḥsān(u).

    Is there any reward for goodness except goodness?

  61. فَبِاَيِّ اٰلَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبٰنِ

    Fa bi'ayyi ālā'i rabbikumā tukażżibān(i).

    Then which of your Lord’s favours will you both deny?

  62. وَمِنْ دُوْنِهِمَا جَنَّتٰنِۚ

    Wa min dūnihimā jannatān(i).

    And below these two ˹Gardens˺ will be two others.

  63. فَبِاَيِّ اٰلَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبٰنِۙ

    Fa bi'ayyi ālā'i rabbikumā tukażżibān(i).

    Then which of your Lord’s favours will you both deny?

  64. مُدْهَاۤمَّتٰنِۚ

    Mudhāmmatān(i).

    Both will be dark green.

  65. فَبِاَيِّ اٰلَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبٰنِ

    Fa bi'ayyi ālā'i rabbikumā tukażżibān(i).

    Then which of your Lord’s favours will you both deny?

  66. فِيْهِمَا عَيْنٰنِ نَضَّاخَتٰنِۚ

    Fīhimā ‘aināni naḍḍākhatān(i).

    In each will be two gushing springs.

  67. فَبِاَيِّ اٰلَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبٰنِۚ

    Fa bi'ayyi ālā'i rabbikumā tukażżibān(i).

    Then which of your Lord’s favours will you both deny?

  68. فِيْهِمَا فَاكِهَةٌ وَّنَخْلٌ وَّرُمَّانٌۚ

    Fīhimā fākihatuw wa nakhluw wa rummān(un).

    In both will be fruit, palm trees, and pomegranates.

  69. فَبِاَيِّ اٰلَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبٰنِۚ

    Fa bi'ayyi ālā'i rabbikumā tukażżibān(i).

    Then which of your Lord’s favours will you both deny?

  70. فِيْهِنَّ خَيْرٰتٌ حِسَانٌۚ

    Fīhinna khairātun ḥisān(un).

    In all Gardens will be noble, pleasant mates.

  71. فَبِاَيِّ اٰلَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبٰنِۚ

    Fa bi'ayyi ālā'i rabbikumā tukażżibān(i).

    Then which of your Lord’s favours will you both deny?

  72. حُوْرٌ مَّقْصُوْرٰتٌ فِى الْخِيَامِۚ

    Ḥūrum maqṣūrātun fil-khiyām(i).

    ˹They will be˺ maidens with gorgeous eyes, reserved in pavilions.

  73. فَبِاَيِّ اٰلَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبٰنِۚ

    Fa bi'ayyi ālā'i rabbikumā tukażżibān(i).

    Then which of your Lord’s favours will you both deny?

  74. لَمْ يَطْمِثْهُنَّ اِنْسٌ قَبْلَهُمْ وَلَا جَاۤنٌّۚ

    Lam yaṭmiṡhunna insun qablahum wa lā jānn(un).

    No human or jinn has ever touched these ˹maidens˺ before.

  75. فَبِاَيِّ اٰلَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبٰنِۚ

    Fa bi'ayyi ālā'i rabbikumā tukażżibān(i).

    Then which of your Lord’s favours will you both deny?

  76. مُتَّكِـِٕيْنَ عَلٰى رَفْرَفٍ خُضْرٍ وَّعَبْقَرِيٍّ حِسَانٍۚ

    Muttaki'īna ‘alā rafrafin khuḍriw wa ‘abqariyyin ḥisān(in).

    All ˹believers˺ will be reclining on green cushions and splendid carpets.

  77. فَبِاَيِّ اٰلَاۤءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبٰنِۚ

    Fa bi'ayyi ālā'i rabbikumā tukażżibān(i).

    Then which of your Lord’s favours will you both deny?

  78. تَبٰرَكَ اسْمُ رَبِّكَ ذِى الْجَلٰلِ وَالْاِكْرَامِ ࣖ

    Tabārakasmu rabbika żil-jalāli wal-ikrām(i).

    Blessed is the Name of your Lord, full of Majesty and Honour.
