Surah Al Humazah

بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِيْمِ

1. وَيْلٌ لِّكُلِّ هُمَزَةٍ لُّمَزَةٍۙ

   Wailul likulli humazatil-lumazah(tin).

   Woe to every backbiter, slanderer,

2. ۨالَّذِيْ جَمَعَ مَالًا وَّعَدَّدَهٗۙ

   Allażī jama‘a mālaw wa ‘addadah(ū).

   who amasses wealth ˹greedily˺ and counts it ˹repeatedly˺,

3. يَحْسَبُ اَنَّ مَالَهٗٓ اَخْلَدَهٗۚ

   Yaḥsabu anna mālahū akhladah(ū).

   thinking that their wealth will make them immortal!

4. كَلَّا لَيُنْۢبَذَنَّ فِى الْحُطَمَةِۖ

   Kallā layumbażanna fil-ḥuṭamah(ti).

   Not at all! Such a person will certainly be tossed into the Crusher.

5. وَمَآ اَدْرٰىكَ مَا الْحُطَمَةُ ۗ

   Wa mā adrāka mal-ḥuṭamah(tu).

   And what will make you realize what the Crusher is?

6. نَارُ اللّٰهِ الْمُوْقَدَةُۙ

   Nārullāhil-mūqadah(tu).

   ˹It is˺ Allah’s kindled Fire,

7. الَّتِيْ تَطَّلِعُ عَلَى الْاَفْـِٕدَةِۗ

   Allatī taṭṭali‘u ‘alal-af'idah(ti).

   which rages over the hearts.

8. اِنَّهَا عَلَيْهِمْ مُّؤْصَدَةٌۙ

   Innahā ‘alaihim mu'ṣadah(tun).

   It will be sealed over them,

9. فِيْ عَمَدٍ مُّمَدَّدَةٍ ࣖ

   Fī ‘amadim mumaddadah(tin).

   ˹tightly secured˺ with long braces.
